Description

A group of conventioneers on the old post office steps. The Beaux Arts-style building was built in 1905 and was used as a post office, customs house, and court house. In 1998, when the new Sam Gibbons courthouse opened, the building was closed. Recently, the city signed a lease with a company to renovate the century-old building into a 130-room boutique hotel.

Wow! It’s always eerie to see people fade away into history.

  2. Pat McCants Shear says:

We would ride the street car into Tampa from Seminole Heights to mail our Christmas packages. There was a place on the left side of the building, ground level, where we would go to mail packages. Also remember going by the front the day President Rooselvelt died and there being a wreath in his honour. I was young and it made a lasting impression on me. Thanks to all responsible for posting all these pictures and information.
