Description

The former Seaboard Oil Company service station on the corner of Columbus Drive and Highland Avenue is now a mechanics shop. Although the decorative striped woodwork has long since been painted over, the vintage gas pumps have been replaced by a vending machine, and the bay window has been removed, at least the unique round door is still there…

Almost wish I didn’t see how far this one has fallen.

this is a great looking building – too bad it looks so dreadful now! It’s ripe for a renovation and transition to a chic shop, although I guess the neighborhood probably won’t support much.

  3. Bryan says:

    Jo-Anne – It hasn’t completely fallen yet…
Alex – When I first saw this historic photo, I had hoped that it became one of the nicely restored chic shops. Like with a lot of the buildings I re-photograph, I was very disappoint when I saw its current condition.

Beautiful building, originally. I remember it when it didn’t look as bad as it does now. Thanks, Bryan!

Has anyone shown this pic to the current owners? Who knows … maybe they’d take some pride in the building …
