Description

George Gandy Jr., among others, inspecting Tony Jannus’s airplane. Jannus, the very first airline pilot, flew the world’s inaugural flight between Tampa and St. Petersburg. Prior to 1914, traveling between the two cities which required taking a slow steamboat across the bay, a three-hour trip by railroad, or an even longer and bumpier trip by automobile or horse. Gandy, helped create the first bridge between Tampa and St. Petersburg.
